Protecting physician privacy is important to us. This notice explains our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on every page of our physician site.
Access to information and content in the secure area of the medsn Web site is limited to registered physicians. To register, you must provide professional information, including your name, practice address, professional e-mail, practice phone number, and medical specialty, and create a password. If the information provided during registration requires subsequent updating, you can change it by accessing your Physician Profile page.
Information provided by physicians during the Member Registration process, and while visiting the Web site is stored in a secure, confidential database. medsn may use the information provided by physicians in the ways described below.
medsn uses this information to customize and improve service when a registered user returns to the Physician Web site, requests product information from pharmaceutical companies via the Web site.
Your profile, along with your user preferences, are also used internally by medsn to identify physicians willing to receive e-mailed invitations to opportunities on the Web (e.g., Interactive Programs, eSymposia, and Peer Meetings).
Your professional information will be disclosed to third parties (e.g., Pharmaceutical companies) only when necessary to fulfill a request made by you via the Web site. For example, when you request a drug sample, your basic professional contact information-including name, practice address and medical license number-may be forwarded to the designated distributor. Other requests from you that will require medsn to share your data include:
Your drug sales representative may be informed of your visit to a particular promotional page. By providing this service, we can help the representative be better prepared to answer your follow-up questions the next time he/she visits your office.
We will share the personal data you provide online only with other medsn internal entities and/or business partners who are acting on our behalf for the uses described above. Such medsn entities and/or business partners are governed by our privacy policies with respect to the use of this information and are bound by confidentiality agreements as appropriate.
In self-selecting specific Physician Web site opportunities, registered physician users grant medsn permission to use their names and profile information in a manner consistent with the fulfillment of their expressed preferences.
By aggregated information, we mean information gathered from a number of physician participants that is grouped together to identify trends. Such pooled data has been stripped of identity in order to minimize the risk that it can be used to personally identify individual physicians. Final reports of online behavior provided to pharmaceutical Sponsors will consist of such aggregated information, stripped of personal identifiers.
Information regarding user ID, Length of visit, Time of day of visit, and path taken during a physician's visit to the Physician Web site will be captured and aggregated. This aggregated information may include, for example, the most and least frequently requested pages and the number of users by specialty. The aggregated data will be used by both medsn and pharmaceutical Sponsors to gain insight into ways to improve future program offerings.
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and promote the responsible use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
The information you provide us may be archived or stored periodically by us according to backup processes conducted in the ordinary course of business. Information stored as part of this backup process will be deleted on a regular schedule.
